Driver reaction time
F1 drivers average around 200 milliseconds to react to lights out at the start of a race — close to the physiological limit for human reaction.
Jump start rule
Sensors detect any wheel movement before the lights officially go out. React early in a real race and it's an automatic penalty — no such penalty here, just bragging rights.
Bonus fact: pit stops
The fastest recorded F1 pit stop is 1.82 seconds — Red Bull, 2019 Brazilian Grand Prix. That's wheel nuts off, tyres changed, nuts back on, car released.
