When you first visit, a banner asks whether we can use Google Analytics. If you decline, Google Analytics is never loaded and nothing about your visit is sent to Google Analytics. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as a decline.
If you accept, Google Analytics records which pages you view, which links you click to leave the site, your approximate location, and your device and browser type. It sets cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_ followed by a code) to tell visitors apart. We use this to see which race coverage gets read and which links get clicked. Google processes this data on our behalf under its own terms, and it is kept for the retention period set on our Analytics account, up to 14 months.
Your choice is saved in your browser. You can change it any time:
Choosing Decline after accepting removes the Google Analytics cookies from this site.
Some links on this site may be affiliate links. If you buy something through one, the retailer may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. The retailer may set its own cookies when you click, to credit us for the sale, and it handles that data under its own privacy policy.
Newsletter. The email signup form on the homepage is provided by Substack. If you subscribe, Substack collects your email address and handles it under its own privacy policy. Substack may also set its own cookies when the form loads.
Fonts and scripts. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and the 3D logo library from the cdnjs content network. Loading these files means your browser makes a request to those providers, which can see your IP address, regardless of your analytics choice.
Command Centre. The live timing page is a separate app hosted on Replit, which keeps its own server logs.
We don't sell personal information and we don't run accounts or collect anything through forms other than the email you send us directly. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email the address above. Analytics data held by Google, and email addresses held by Substack, are managed through those services.
If this changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
